How To Hear The Voice of God

How To Hear The Voice of God

The life of every great man and woman in the Bible was marked by the ability to hear and recognize the voice of God. As clearly as He spoke to these men, He has promised to speak to us as well.

God has not stopped talking and revealing Himself to His people. Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” The Bible you hold in your hand is the primary instrument through which God will speak to you.

Let’s look at some practical ways in which you can begin to hear the voice of God.

  1. Put yourself in a position to hear God’s voice. Habakkuk 2:1 says, “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what He will say unto me…” How do we do this? By waking up in the morning with the sole objective of hearing God’s voice. Isaiah 50:4 says, “He awakens me morning by morning to listen.” Start your day by deciding not to do anything until you have spent time listening to God.
  2. Listen consistently. Notice the words “morning by morning” in Isaiah 50:4. Each morning we should pray in the spirit, read encouraging scriptures and expect to hear the voice of God. Consistency is the key to anything in our lives. If you will consistently start your day listening to God, you will begin to recognize what He is saying to you all the time.
  3. Never listen to a voice that is contrary to the Word (2 Peter 1:19). God will never speak something contrary to the Bible. For example, some people have thought God was telling them they didn’t need to join a church. However, Psalm 92:13 and 1 Corinthians 12:18 show us that it is God’s will (therefore it is His voice) that we be planted in a church that will help us grow and flourish in God!
  4. Obey Him in the little things that you already know. Luke 16:10 says, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” As we are faithful to carry out the simple voice of scripture such as: forgive, serve, tithe, love—then God’s voice will become clearer and clearer in areas of life that are more complicated and harder to figure out.
  5. Keep a soft heart. Hebrews 3:15 says, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart.” Here are some simple steps to keep a soft heart:
    • Be willing to do whatever He tells you (before He tells you!)
    • Be thankful for what God has done. A thankful heart is a soft heart.
    • Hold nothing against anyone, for any reason. This includes forgiving yourself. Jesus’ blood was shed for your sins, shortcomings and mistakes! He holds nothing against you! So treat yourself and others the way He treats you. You are forgiven!

God loves you so much that He never wants you to be alone! He will be with you wherever you go and speak to you in every situation in which you will listen with a humble heart. Problems increase in our lives when we don’t listen to God. Solutions come when we hear from God.

Let’s look at some of the benefits of hearing God’s voice.

    1. Rest. Isaiah 28:12 says, “To whom He said, ‘This is the rest with which cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing; but they would not hear (listen).’” Rest speaks of refreshing, and the fulfillment of God’s promises. Hebrews 3:7-19 shows us that God’s people did not enter into His rest because they did not listen to His voice. Therefore, the more we learn to listen to His voice, (with the intent to obey), the more rest, refreshing and fulfillment we will experience.
    2. Peace. Psalm 85:8 says, “I will hear what God, the Lord will speak. He will speak peace to His godly ones.” God promises peace to those who listen. The Hebrew word for peace, “shalom” means “nothing is missing and nothing is broken.” It means to be made whole, to be secure, to have confidence and triumph over opposition.
    3. Supernatural Deliverance. In 2 Samuel 5:17-23 David seeks for direction from God on what to do about the Philistine army. God then speaks to him and gives him a strategy that results in David’s victory and his enemy’s defeat. This is exactly what God will do for you when you listen for His voice. But keep in mind, His strategy will not always make sense to your “natural” mind. You must be “spiritually” minded (Romans 8:5-6).
    4. Favor! Proverbs 8:33-35 says, “Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.
    5. Forward Progress. Look at what God says in this amazing scripture in Jeremiah 7:23-24: “’…Hear My voice, and I will be your God. And you shall be My people…But they did not LISTEN, nor inclined their ears, but walked in the counsels and the imaginations of their evil heart; and WENT BACKWARD, NOT FORWARD.” Wow! How much clearer can God be? When we listen to His voice, we will go forward, make progress and grow. When we don’t listen, we will go backward, lose progress and fail. For the believer who desires to grow, there is absolutely nothing more important in this life than to hear His voice and follow it!

You may say, “But how can I really know if it’s God’s voice that I’m hearing or if it’s just me?” Well, fortunately, your spirit is made in the image of God, so sometimes, the voice you are hearing is the same voice. Your spirit often “echoes” what God is saying.

Romans 8:16 says, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit…” In other words, they sound very similar. But to give you some simple guidelines, you can know it God’s voice when:

It agrees with Scripture.
It agrees with love.
It brings that peace that “surpasses comprehension.”
It brings comfort, encouragement and confidence.
It agrees with the character, love and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Expect God to speak to you today. Expectation is the key to manifestation. You CAN hear His voice. Make a decision to listen with a heart of expectation.

As you listen to the voice of God, (which is the highest form of wisdom) God will open doors for you that no man can close. He will surround you with favor as a shield. And, you will experience His provision, protection and promotion!  Watch my video below to learn even more, and/or order my teaching resources on this topic today.

How To Hear The Voice of God

Breaking the Stronghold of Small Expectations

Breaking the Stronghold of Small Expectations

I can tell you this. . .Satan is a liar. And one of the greatest lies that he has infiltrated the Church with is: small thinking—that we are somehow being holy or humble by thinking small and expecting small.

GOD WANTS YOU TO APPROACH HIM WITH BOLDNESS AND BREAKTHROUGH EXPECTATION!!!

Hebrews 10:35 says, “Don’t throw away your confidence, which has GREAT reward!

Hebrews 4:16 says that we can “Come BOLDLY to the throne of grace to obtain mercy & find grace to help in our time of need.

God is trying to get this through to us: He wants us to go boldly to Him; ask BIG; Think BIG; and expect GREAT things from Him.

Our Heavenly Father is BIGGER and MORE POWERFUL than anything we are up against. We need to see God that way; and go to Him with that mindset! That’s when miracles happen. Miracles happen in an atmosphere or soil of EXPECTATION.

EXPECTATION is the difference between failure and success, blessing or burden, abundance or lack, even sickness or health. In fact, expectation is the secret ingredient behind every great miracle in the Bible!

EVERY MIRACLE IN THE BIBLE CAN BE TRACED TO A SEED OF EXPECTATION, BUT SMALL EXPECTATIONS ARE A STRONGHOLD THE DEVIL USES TO STEAL FROM YOU AND ROB YOU OF GOD’S BEST!

Friend, don’t limit God in your life! Instead release your faith with BREAKTHROUGH EXPECTATION! Remember what God says in Ephesians 3:20: He is able to do exceedingly abundantly ABOVE and BEYOND all that you can ask or think, according to the power at work within you!

What is that power at work within us? THE POWER OF EXPECTATION!

So, never underestimate the power of expectation. Expect God’ to strengthen you; expect to be led by His Spirit today and be willing to believe for big things.

David said, “I would have despaired UNLESS I BELIEVED that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13).

You see? God doesn’t want you to define your life by your present circumstances – this world will try to confine you and box you in until you feel hopeless. But God wants to take the limits off and open doors that you’ve never seen opened before! IT’S YOUR TIME!

But you’ve got to raise your expectations and ask for the things that are on your heart.

What do you need God to do in your life today? God’s power is present to do it, and I find it interesting God’s power was always present wherever He was teaching, because God’s Word carries within itself the DNA of your healing, financial blessing, your breakthrough and your miracle!

And while He was teaching…the power of the Lord was PRESENT…” Luke 5:17

God’s power is present to change your life right now!

So, take the limits off and believe that God can do the impossible in your life! Ask God for everything and then when you are done asking Him for everything, ask Him for more!

God loves to bless those who will approach Him with expectancy. Is that greedy? Is that selfish? NO! It’s God’s will for you right now!

How to Stop Hurting and Start Really Living

How to Stop Hurting and Start Really Living

We all know what it’s like to experience pain…

Whether it’s the physical pain of sickness or injury; the emotional pain of losing someone we love; the mental pain of anguish or anxiety or worry; the spiritual pain of losing our faith or being shipwrecked in our hope or being disappointed in a promise that doesn’t seem to be showing up in our lives; the pain of broken relationships …. we have all experienced or are experiencing one of these pains today. Or you’ve witnessed this kind of pain in the lives of those that you come in contact with daily.

When YOU look around the world today you must surely notice:

  • Millions suffering from debilitating diseases or sicknesses.
  • The daily news is filled with incidences of violence, abuse, kidnapping, the horrors of war, heartbreak, and misery.
  • Suicides, even by people that we thought had it all.
  • Murder by Islamic terrorist groups.
  • Persecution of Christians in so many places around the world.
  • Two million people dying each year from water-borne diseases — ninety percent of them are little children.
  • 15 million kids having been orphaned by AIDS.

We live in a broken world and hurting world. But in all that pain and suffering:

God has an answer for every pain you’ve ever felt.

God has a solution, a remedy and a healing for every pain you’ve ever experienced! That’s right – He does!

No one wants to keep hurting. Yet people try to deal with their suffering and pain without God’s help. We go to other sources, people and remedies, when it is God who wants to be our Healer, and only He that truly can. He is Jehovah Rapha — the God who heals. He wants to be the One we look to. God says, “…I am the Lord that heals you.” (Exodus 15:26.)

This world is hurting. And when a person is hurting, they can hardly think of anything else. When we are hurting, we often bring pain to others. But …

Today I want YOU to be HEALED and help bring HEALING in this world.

The answer to your pain and hurting is to FIND the REMEDY in God’s TOUCH, in God’s HEALING, in what Jesus DID FOR YOU on The Cross. He Himself bore our pain in His body and carried away our sicknesses and diseases. “By His stripes we were healed.” Isaiah 53:4. He bore our pain and so He knows what it’s like to hurt. He felt every rejection you’ve ever felt. He felt every temptation you’ve ever felt. He felt every betrayal you’ve ever felt. And then He took your pain and mine and all of our pain combined and nailed it to the Cross. He was wounded for our transgressions, and by His stripes we were healed! Isn’t that amazing?

We have a Savior that knows what you feel and experience.

  • He knows what it’s like to hurt.
  • He knows what it’s like to feel pain.
  • He knows what it’s like to be tempted.
  • He knows what it’s like to suffer.
  • He knows what it’s like to be betrayed.
  • He knows what it’s like to be despised and hated.

He knows what your pain feels like because He has felt it Himself.

And He wants you to know that He took that pain and sorrow upon Himself. There’s no reason for you to BEAR IT when He HAS BORNE IT FOR YOU.

Now it’s time to feel what life is like beyond the pain.

Are you ready to be healed and to be a healer?

  • Whenever you’re hurting, call on God.
  • Whenever you’re suffering, pray.
  • Whenever you feel down and out, ask for God’s help.
  • Whenever you feel defined by your past, let God redefine you.
  • Whenever you feel you’re going backwards, call on God to move ahead.
  • Whenever somebody has wronged you, forgive them.
  • Whenever somebody has hurt you, call on God to help you.
  • When you’ve caused hurt, call on God to heal you and those you’ve hurt.

David said, “I love the Lord because He hears my cry” in Psalm 116:1. One of the reasons why I love the Lord is because He hears me when I’m in pain.

James 5:13 says “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray.” When you’re suffering, pray. When you feel pain, PRAY.

Psalm 30:2—“ O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.”

God HEARS and He HEALS.

God does not want you to settle for the pain that He has already paid for by nailing His Son to the Cross. He has borne it for you. He wants to heal you of it.

Part of the blessing of God is for HIM to heal you; and then use you to bring healing to others who are hurting still. God wants you to:

GIVE UP YOUR PAIN TO GOD, and ASK HIM TO LET YOU IMPACT OTHERS, with HIS HEALING HAND.

We can’t remove the burdens of this broken world in our own ability. We need the anointing of the Holy Spirit to heal the pain. You can live beyond the pain!

Today, ask the Lord to heal you; and give you the power bring healing to the hurting around you.

Ask God to Help You Stop Hurting and Start Healing TODAY.
