Living Beyond the Walls

Living Beyond the Walls Gregory Dickow

Are You Ready to Live Beyond the WALL?

Joseph’s life as described in Genesis chapter 49 is a case study with regards to how he broke barriers in his life. How he lived beyond the walls of his life. And his example can inspire hope in your life today.

You are going to live beyond the walls that have tried to contain you. That includes living beyond the invisible fences that have tried to control you, beyond the walls of fear, beyond the walls of hatred, beyond the walls of envy, beyond the walls of your upbringing.

You can choose to let what your circumstances or other people have done to you imprison you behind those walls or you could decide to be like Joseph whose branches reached over the walls and he was no longer contained by the invisible fences or the visible fences in his life.

Listen, there are visible fences and then there are invisible fences in your life. God has not called you to be contained by any of them, nor has He called you to be limited by any of them.

You have to make a decision today. Are you going to live behind the walls of your past , the walls of your pain, the walls of what people have done to you? You have to leave behind the victim mentality. You are not a victim of anything. You’re only a victim if you believe you are confined to stay that way the rest of your life. You are called to live beyond that pain, beyond what that person did to you, beyond what life has brought you.

Now go back to verse 22 of Genesis 49 and notice what he says. “Joseph’s branches reached over the wall.” One reason why Joseph lived beyond the wall is because what he says, “A fruitful vine by a well.” If you want to live beyond the wall you have to live by the well.

The well is God’s word. The well is the Holy Spirit. The well is the church. The well is God’s promises. If you will stay by the well, which is the church, the word, the Holy Spirit, and God’s promises – then you are going to reach over the wall.

When you begin Living beyond the Walls, you will come to understand why you should expect God’s favor to manifest uncommon blessings in your life.

Are You Living Under An Open Heaven?

Are You Living Under An Open Heaven?

I think that we all want two things in life.

  1. We want to make it through another day successfully without going backwards
  2. We want to find God’s best and perfect will for our lives.

I believe that God gives us a path and He gives us a plan of how to have our needs met today — And to bring us into His perfect will. The same way you connect to God’s supply is the same way you connect to God’s perfect will for your life.

God created you and I to live under an Open Heaven. Where Divinity meets Humanity. This means that we have been given access to the God who supplies our every need and leads us into His Perfect Will. Here is the Good News. The Bible says we have a Savior that understands our weaknesses — we have a High Priest in Jesus Christ who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

2 Corinthians 4:8 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;” Then it goes on to say in 2 Corinthians 4:10 “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”

We can have hope, because Jesus has been where you are and wants to take you to where He is. Do you know that there’s sometimes a battle between God’s will and our will? Where Divinity meets Humanity. Sometimes there’s a fight — do I want to do God’s will or do I want to do my own will? Do I want to do God’s thing or my own thing? And it’s perfectly human, normal and natural to recognize that we don’t always feel like doing God’s will. And it’s okay. You’re still saved. God still loves you. You’re not going to hell. But we need to recognize that we will either be ruled by our feelings or we will rule over our feelings. Jesus will show us how.

Open your Bibles with me to the Book of Mark, Chapter 14. I want to take you on Jesus’ journey as He gets ready to go to the cross.

Now, you have to understand something about Jesus. First of all, He knows what you’re going through right now. Can you say Amen to that? God knows what you’re going through. He knows what you’re up against. He knows you’re in a trial. He knows you’re in what the Bible calls a “midnight hour.” He knows the pressure you might feel right now.

Maybe you’re going through financial pressure, maybe you’re going through pressure in your home or in your marriage. Maybe you’re going through pressure with your business. Maybe you’re in a relationship that’s strained with a loved one, or a relative. God knows what you’re going through, and He provides a way out of every situation that you might be facing. And, in fact, what I realized is, life will sometimes beat you down to where you are either very weakened by the trials and the pressure that are on you, or you don’t know where you’re going to get God’s supply, or how you’re going to get your prayer answered or how you’re going to get the strength you need to go on another day, and to fulfill God’s will for your life.

It’s the same path to receive both Heaven’s supply and Heaven’s strength. I believe that every one of us needs God’s Heavens to open for us, and we need God’s strength to be poured out into our lives, and we need God’s supply to be poured out into our lives. We need Heaven’s supply and Heaven’s strength.

Here are the steps Jesus took in overcoming the pressure in His life: (see Mark 14:32-35)

1. He PRAYED (Mark 14:32)

Pray until you have a breakthrough, and what I mean is, you have an attitude of prayer, that you’re ready to pray until something happens, and even when you’re done asking God, you begin to thank God.

2. He chose wisely His ASSOCIATIONS (Mark 14:33)

There’s a reason why He took Peter, James and John, and there’s a reason why you need to select certain people to be in your life when you’re going through a tough time, and when the pressure is on. You need to surround yourself with the right people. People who will carry you and not judge you. People who will help you not harm you.

3. He went FORWARD a little (Mark 14:35)

It is important in life when you are going through struggles to keep going in the right direction. Even if you feel like giving up keep going in the right direction. Don’t stop doing the right things and eventually those right things will put you in the right place. God’s will is always being in the right place at the right time.

And when you pray like that, let me tell you what happens, and I’ll close with this verse. Luke 22:43 “And there appeared an angel unto Him from Heaven, strengthening Him.” And the same angels that strengthened Him will strengthen you when you’re pressed on every side.

Ripping the Roof Off Your Finances

Ripping the Roof Off Your Finances

There is no doubt God is a God of increase. There is absolutely no doubt He wants to increase you. And there’s no doubt He wants to begin doing it today!

Listen, clearly God has shown us that He wants to multiply our giving and our sowing into a miracle harvest. He wants to give us beyond what we can ask or even think. And God is ready to do that in your life!

Now, here are those five reasons…

  1. Because You Are Sowing to Glorify God. – God wants to give us increase…why? Because it gives Him glory! When you experience increase God gets glorified. And if our desire is to give Him glory – which should be the desire of every Christian, you WANT to give God the glory. You WANT your life to glorify God. Then it’s time to experience the increase He has for us because it gives God glory.
  2. Because You Are Giving Into the Preaching of the Gospel. – If you’re sowing into the preaching of the Gospel, then this is another reason God wants you to increase. God wants to be glorified and He wants you to increase so the Gospel can be preached.

The Bible says in Romans, chapter 10, “How can they hear without a preacher?” And then it goes on to say “How can the preacher preach unless he’s sent?” And how is he sent? He’s sent with money, and financial support from people just like you who give to take care of his needs and equip him to go where he needs to go!
  3. Because You Are Expectant. – Philippians 4:19 says “But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus.” This includes your spiritual, relational, AND financial needs.

We have to realize this is one of the primary reasons God wants to bring increase into our lives. God WANTS to meet your needs abundantly. He’s our Father, and no father wants His children just barely getting by. However, you must have an expectation that your Heavenly Father is looking to bless you abundantly.
  4. Because YOU Are Giving to Help Others. – God wants you to have plenty left over to give joyfully to others for every good work. Don’t you want be able to help every good work? Well, that’s increase. I don’t think we often realize how staggering the concept of God’s exponential increase is. It’s thirty-fold, sixty-fold, one-hundred fold! God wants you to break free in your mind from the limited increase and think instead about unlimited possibilities, so that you begin to expect above and beyond all you can ask or think.
  5. Because You Are Thankful. – God’s not trying to get something from you. He’s trying to get something to you! God wants you to be thankful for what you have right now. Jesus was given five loaves and two fish, and he didn’t say, “What? This is all you’ve got? This is all you could do?” No! What did He do? He took the five loaves and the two fish, and he lifted them up to God and gave thanks. And what happened when He gave thanks? They multiplied! They multiplied because he was thankful.

Be thankful today for whatever you have right now and lift it up to God. Because that’s how multiplication happens: through gratitude and through thankfulness.

Give for the sake of the Gospel. Say, “Jesus, this is all I have and I want You to have it because I love you. Because You saved me.”

There is no doubt God is a God of increase. There is absolutely no doubt He wants to increase you. And there’s no doubt He wants to begin doing it today!

Clearly God has shown us that He wants to multiply your giving and your sowing into a miracle harvest. He wants to give you beyond what you can ask or even think about. And God is ready to do that in your life today. It’s very simple.

  • One: Be a sower to glorify God.
  • Two: Give into the preaching of the Gospel.
  • Three: Be expectant.
  • Four: Give to help others.
  • Five: Be thankful.
