Living Beyond the Walls

Living Beyond the Walls Gregory Dickow

Are You Ready to Live Beyond the WALL?

Joseph’s life as described in Genesis chapter 49 is a case study with regards to how he broke barriers in his life. How he lived beyond the walls of his life. And his example can inspire hope in your life today.

You are going to live beyond the walls that have tried to contain you. That includes living beyond the invisible fences that have tried to control you, beyond the walls of fear, beyond the walls of hatred, beyond the walls of envy, beyond the walls of your upbringing.

You can choose to let what your circumstances or other people have done to you imprison you behind those walls or you could decide to be like Joseph whose branches reached over the walls and he was no longer contained by the invisible fences or the visible fences in his life.

Listen, there are visible fences and then there are invisible fences in your life. God has not called you to be contained by any of them, nor has He called you to be limited by any of them.

You have to make a decision today. Are you going to live behind the walls of your past , the walls of your pain, the walls of what people have done to you? You have to leave behind the victim mentality. You are not a victim of anything. You’re only a victim if you believe you are confined to stay that way the rest of your life. You are called to live beyond that pain, beyond what that person did to you, beyond what life has brought you.

Now go back to verse 22 of Genesis 49 and notice what he says. “Joseph’s branches reached over the wall.” One reason why Joseph lived beyond the wall is because what he says, “A fruitful vine by a well.” If you want to live beyond the wall you have to live by the well.

The well is God’s word. The well is the Holy Spirit. The well is the church. The well is God’s promises. If you will stay by the well, which is the church, the word, the Holy Spirit, and God’s promises – then you are going to reach over the wall.

When you begin Living beyond the Walls, you will come to understand why you should expect God’s favor to manifest uncommon blessings in your life.

Pure Grace: Your Struggle is Over

Pure Grace

I’m on a mission to teach you about God’s relentless love and how it can change everything in your life. Romans 2:4 says it’s the love of God and the goodness of God, that leads us to repentance or brings us to change. We don’t have to change ourselves — it’s God’s grace and love that changes us.

Many people think it’s the other way around. They think that if they change, then God will be good to them or God will love them. But God shows you his goodness regardless of our behavior, and that’s what empowers us to change. That’s the real grace of God and that’s what I want to talk about today.

I’ve spent years in the Scriptures to try to really understand what God has to say about grace and God’s love and His amazing gift for us that we can’t earn no matter how hard we try. This is what I’ve found — God’s love is so great for you that nothing you can do can cause Him to pull away or turn His back on you — absolutely nothing!

Paul says in Romans 12:3 “I’m speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me and especially as I have responsibility in relation to you.” He says, “Living then as every one of you does in pure grace.”

How do we live in God’s pure grace — His unmerited love and favor — His power, His strength in the midst of our weakness? His mercy, in the midst of our failure? His ability, in the midst of our lack of ability or our disability?

Most of us are worn out as Christians. We can be discouraged by our Christian walk because we haven’t understood pure grace. We’ve understood a mixture of grace and law – a mixture of God’s power versus our power. We’ve tried to do things in our own power rather than realizing God wants to give us all the power we need to live this Christian life that He created us to live. That’s pure grace.

Romans 12:3 says, “It’s important that you do not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God, NO! He says “God brings it all to you.”

He goes on to say, “The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and what He does for us not what we are and what we do for Him.”

Now pure grace is to understand who He is and what He has done for us. Pure grace will always bring strength, comfort, and encouragement. It’ll always bring rest. It’ll always bring favor. It’ll always bring ability. It’ll always bring answers because the Christian life is not built upon the promises that we make to God. As the Scripture says, the Christian life is built upon the promises that God makes to us.

Christianity is an encounter with a force so great that it heals you everywhere you’re hurting. It fills you everywhere you’re empty; changes you everywhere you’re broken; restores you everywhere you’re sick. My God, His love, His mercy, His goodness and His grace will come in and fill your life! And when your life is filled, you have something to give and then you have something to tell someone.

Why do we think we have to earn it, deserve it; be so holy and godly before God will hear me?

God hears the cry of the weak. He hears the cry of the suffering. He hears the cry of the hurting. He hears the cry of the humble: “God, I messed up; I’m depressed. I can hardly get out of bed. I could hardly smile. I can hardly do anything for anyone including myself, God.” And what does God say? “It’s alright, I’ll meet you there. I’ll touch you there. Arise and eat.”

Aren’t you glad that when you run from God, and even when you ignore God’s touch, He touches you again? When you turn from God, He turns to you. When you run away, He runs after you. When you let Him down, He pulls you up. When you fail Him, He will never fail you. I’m so glad God doesn’t give up on me. I’m so glad He’s the God of second chances, aren’t you?

1 Kings 19:7 says “And the angel of Jehovah came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for thee.”

During the first touch, Elijah saw his own need and just ate & drank and went back to sleep. But God is telling Elijah this second time, to eat and drink and start moving, because I’ve got a greater journey ahead for you. My purpose for you is greater than anything that you could ever come up with yourself. My vision for your life is even greater. My next chapter for your life is greater than the last chapter. Get ready something amazing is about to happen in your life.

In your lowest moment, God is ready to fulfill His highest dream. We think “we have to be so high; we have to be so holy. We have to be on the top; we have to be on the top of the steps like Rocky.” But God says, at the bottom of the hill, in the valley of your discouragement, there I will touch you. And there I will feed you. There I will make you ready for the greater journey.

God Will Provide

God Will Provide

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches
in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

God knows you have financial needs. He knows that sometimes it’s hard to pay your bills. He knows it’s hard to sometimes get ahead. He knows what you’re going through and what a challenge it is.

He knows but He always has a plan!

Today, I want to help you better understand God’s word because He really wants to meet your needs. God cares about what you are going through, He cares about what you’re lacking, He cares about what you’re suffering, He cares about what you’re going through physically or emotionally or financially, and I want to talk to you about God being your Provider. The Bible says that GOD WILL PROVIDE and my message today is simply that.

You may be thinking I’m not seeing God providing for me, but I want to show you how to experience God’s provisions for your life.

In Philippians the fourth chapter, I want to show you some things that maybe you haven’t thought of. And maybe some things that will refresh you, and maybe some things that will remind you, and stir up your faith for what God wants to do in your life, because we live in a very self-sufficient world.

I think we’ll always be frustrated in our lives when we try to provide everything we need for ourselves. But, we’ll see real peace, and real joy, and real freedom when we learn to trust God as our provider. We often will use Philippians 4:19 to serve for our financial needs. But God doesn’t limit this passage of scripture to just financial needs because many times our needs go beyond what money can do for us.

I want to really break this verse down, so we can understand how God is going to meet our needs. It might be a financial need right now or it could be a need in your family, whatever the need God is going to meet it!

And my God WILL supply ALL your needs according to HIS RICHES in glory in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:19

1) It is God’s WILL to supply your needs!
  • The Bible here tells us very clearly it is His will to supply your needs, it is His WILLGod WILL Provide – I want you to embrace it. Whatever God’s will is, it’s going to come to pass, it is God’s will to meet your needs.
2) God will supply ALL your needs!
  • All means ALL. He will supply ALL your needs but not all your greed. That does not mean you can be wasteful. You may need to be a better steward of what you have. He will supply not just enough for you to live on but enough for others too when you are faithful.
3) God will supply according to HIS RICHES!
  • He doesn’t meet your needs based on your goodness, holiness, perfection, godliness, but according to HIS RICHES. He is so holy that He will keep His promise.

So, there are a couple things that we need to do in order to access God’s provisions. First is identify what your need is. What is my need? I need a job that takes care of my family. I need a soul mate. I need a husband. I need a wife. I need a spouse. I need to be a kinder person. I need to be a better parent. Identify the specific need.

Then number two, ask your heavenly Father for that thing, whatever it is, ask Him for it. Mathew 6:32 says, “God knows what you need before you ask.” And He said in Mathew 7:7, “Ask and it shall be given…” So, go ahead and ask. Then thank Him for it. I receive it in Jesus’ name. Be thankful. You see, gratitude is the greatest form of faith. Faith doesn’t say, Lord, can you? Lord, will you? Faith says Lord thank You. When you ask God for something, Mark 11:24 says, “All things for which you pray and ask, believe you have received them”.

It’s real important. He doesn’t say –believe you will receive them. He says believe you have received them. Believe that you’ve received them, right now! And then you will have them. You say–how can I believe that I received them, when I don’t even see them! Because that’s what faith does! Faith believes it has received. Then be a good steward of what you currently have. This is how God supplies our needs. Take care of God’s needs and He’ll take care of yours. You reap what you sow. My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus. This is the heart of the Gospel. This is the heart of spreading the Gospel–that as we take care of God’s Kingdom and God’s needs, He will take care of our needs.

But, what does God need?
  • Souls to be saved.
  • His message to get out to the world.
  • The Gospel to spread.
  • His churches to grow.
  • His Kingdom to advance.
  • The message of salvation to be preached.
  • His Love to cover the earth.
  • His grace to be abounding.
  • His glory and the message of His cross to spread the world like wildfire.
  • Broken people to be healed.
  • Sick people to recover.

Let’s give into God’s needs and watch Him give back into ours.
